Nongovernmental Organization (NGO) Briefings

In the Fall of 2002, Fairleigh Dickinson University became one of just three universities in the country to earn accreditation as a nongovernmental organization (NGO) associated with the Department of Public Information of the United Nations. This designation provides the University community with special access to UN facilities, briefings and programs. While the accreditation permits three representatives to hold permanent passes to briefings, sessions of the General Assembly and the Dag Hammarskjöld Library, the university is allocated three additional temporary passes for each event. These additional passes can be used by anyone in the University community with advance arrangements.

Three passes for weekly U.N. Briefings

The University is allocated three passes per day, for students, faculty and staff to attend weekly Thursday briefings and open sessions at the United Nations in New York City.

Briefings are held in the Dag Hammarskjöld Library Auditorium and begin at 10:30 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. unless otherwise indicated. A thematically relevant UN video is usually screened at 10 a.m. before the briefing.
